I wanted to depict a warm sense of love that is deeper and different from other “love.” I call this painting “Self Love,” because it reminds me of the spontaneity of childhood, the gentle innocence, and the deep wish to be loved by not only others, but by myself.
MATERIALS
I used acrylic paint, gesso, heavy gel, a China marker, and an airbrush medium. I sealed the painting with a UV-protective varnish to prevent it from fading, to prevent yellowing, and to add a bit of shine. The entire painting was created with a palette knife. There is some texture, too!
The premier-quality canvas is constructed with splined-binding (fewer visible staples on the back) vs. back-stapled for a cleaner appearance. It is archival and will last for several generations.
FEATURES
I painted the edges in Payne’s Grey for a finished appearance so that framing is not necessary. The back has an hook installed, my gallery label, and it is autographed.
