This original painting is extra-large (36x48”) with gorgeous texture, and metallic silver accents. It’s dark and mysterious. When I began this painting I wanted to paint freely, and avoid overthinking. However, this painting originated from a mistake. I angrily smeared the original image while the paint was wet with my bare hands. This is a the outcome. I see the famous Banff National Park. What do you see?
This painting won the blue ribbon, Best of Show, at the Maple Grove Arts Center in 2023.
MATERIALS
I used acrylic paint, gesso, and metallic paint. I covered the painting with a UV-protective varnish to prevent it from fading, and to add rich shine. I used a palette knife and a brush to complete this piece.
The canvas is premier-professional quality, and the back is back-stapled so that it can be re-stretched by a professional in the future if ever needed. I painted the edges in “payne’s grey” which is nearly black for a clean and finished appearance so that framing is not necessary.
I also want to mention that the canvas is deeper than the standard size- 1.50” deep. The wooden frame is made with kiln-dried wood to help prevent warping. It’s a special feature when looking for quality in a stretched canvas.
The back has wire installed, it has my gallery label, and it is autographed. The front is signed on the bottom right-corner.
